The Life You’ve Always Dreamed Of

The Life You’ve Always Dreamed Of

LIFE – we all live one and it’s the only one we have.  It would make sense to live it the best and most fulfilling way we could, wouldn’t it?

But what would that look like for you?  Have you ever given it more than a brief moments thought, or have you got it all planned out in your head?

For some people just living under the sheer weight of anxiety consumes all their energy and there’s little left to even contemplate a different way.

Most of us would agree that there seems to be a huge disconnect between the life we would like to live and our current reality.

I mean where do we even start a journey towards change?

Imagine scrolling through your favourite social media site and coming across an ad that claims that it can sell you the life you’ve always dreamed of right out of the box, complete with instructions!

“Avoid the pain, the struggle, the hurt, the frustration, the disappointment,” the ad claims, “here’s a step by step guide to build the life you’ve always dreamed of?”

Would you be tempted, intrigued, running for your credit card?

Sadly it’s not that easy!  We have all experienced the curve balls that life can throw at us, the times we stop and wonder, “How did I end up here?  This was never part of the plan.”  We can all dream, but those dreams don’t always come true and even if they do they may not bring the feelings of happiness we thought they might.

Life is certainly for living.  We all want to enjoy a happy, fulfilling life, full of laughter, happiness, meaning and purpose.  That can’t be bought in a box off the shelf.  It has to be built – INTENTIONALLY!

A life built on a solid foundation can stand against the storm, it isn’t easily moved, it isn’t distracted and diverted this way or that way by the latest “shiny” thing.  That life is built on sand – an unstable foundation that shifts, moves and crumbles away leaving only dust.

Without the anchor of a solid foundation we can feel blown around day after day, reacting rather that planning, surviving rather than living.

The truth is that nothing will change unless it is forced upon us through circumstances or WE CHOOSE to make changes.

If we want to build a life that is both fulfilling and full of purpose then we have to be INTENTIONAL about it.  It won’t just happen, no matter how hard we wish for it.

CHALLENGE

How do you feel about your life?  Honestly?

Do you recognise areas in your life that you are unhappy about and would like to change?

If the answer is “Yes”, are you willing to pay the cost of hard work and difficult decisions that may be required of you to make those changes?

(Note – This is where many people opt out.  They like the idea of making a change, but they’re not willing to pay the price!  And the result?  Life continues unchanged.)

INSPIRATION

“Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and acts on them is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.  The rain fell, the torrents raged, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because the foundation was on the rock.” (Jesus – Matthew 24&25)

“I have come that they may have life and have it in all its fullness.” (Jesus – John 10:10)
