Direct me

Direct me

Today, as I was out walking, I watched the Pilot boat heading out, no doubt to board a larger vessel, either wanting to leave the bay, or enter it via the safe channels.  The Pilots know the waters well and they are able to guide the larger ships in and out safely, avoiding the shallows and potentially hazardous areas.  The captains of the ships generally give up control, surrender, to the Pilot, trusting in their expertise and knowledge, to lead them where they should go.

Direct me, Yahweh, throughout my journey so I can experience your plans for my life.

Reveal the life-paths that are pleasing to you.

Escort me into your truth; take me by the hand and teach me.

For you are the God of my salvation;

I have wrapped my heart into yours all day long!

Psalm 25:4-5 (The Passion Translation)

Giving up control or surrendering is not always easy. But as the captain of the ship trusts the Pilot, knowing that He has the best interests of his vessel, cargo and crew in mind, so I can surrender my life to the God who loves me with an un-failing love and who has my best interests wrapped in His heart. I can trust that He will lead me, walking each step alongside me. There is no promise that the way ahead will always be easy, but He does promise to never leave me or forsake me! So why should I be afraid. anxious or fearful? I will fix my eyes on You and follow where you lead.
