Wild Church – April 2026

In 2026 we’re exploring God’s invitation to Draw Near. We meet outside (in the wild) embracing silence, listening, creative worship and prayer, using all of our senses as we learn new ways in which we might draw near to God, knowing that His response is ALWAYS to draw near to us.
The weather was so beautiful today that we decided to move the fire pit out into the sun for the afternoon. The area was buzzing with life. There were butterflies and insects, blossom on the trees and the birds were singing non-stop.
We began our time together exploring “WHO is this God we can draw near to?”, discovering that God is more concerned that we understand “who” He is rather than “what” He can do. In the book of Romans we find these words –
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God. (Roman 1:20 NLT)
God reveals Himself and His character to us in creation, so we spent some time silently focusing on one small part of His creation. We asked God to reveal something of His character to us through what we were looking at. After a few minutes, we came back together to share and give thanks for all we had heard. It’s amazing what some apple blossom, a daisy, a dandelion and a Buzzard being mobbed by some Ravens, among other things, can show us about God.

We discussed “WHY we would want to draw near to God?” learning that we were all created with a purpose and that in God’s presence, we are transformed.
Finally we asked the question, “HOW can we draw near to God?”, taking part in an activity to illustrate the fact that we live in a noisy world, and learning to filter out the noise and embracing stillness can help us to draw near. This was followed by a short guided meditation, before finishing with a blessing.
We sat for some time, delighting in our surroundings, continuing to talk around what we had learnt but also building relationship and forming community.
If you are interested in joining us for our next event you would be very welcome.
